Donald Trump and Conflicts of Interest

Donald Trump has innumerable potential conflicts of interest because of his business dealings and debts owed to foreign and domestic banks. Getting Trump’s tax information is important because it can expose these potential conflicts of interest. These documents can also serve as valuable proof if Trump is in violation of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, possible grounds for impeachment. Initially, Trump cited an audit as the reason he hadn’t yet released his tax documents. However, he has not yet produced proof of this audit, and audits do not prevent the release of returns.
